My Blog's First Birthday!

OMG! My blog turned one yesterday! I can't believe that I have kept it up for 12 months already. I wonder how much longer I will go on. I didn't miss it all that much when I took a break recently. Now that I am recovering from my recent ordeals, I will put in more effort to blog at least twice a week. Fingers crossed.

Changing The Topics

Tomorrow will be my second last day of work for the year. As I have already said so recently, I will be renovating this blog. I have already changed the template and photo. The next thing that I would like to do is to change the list of topics each entry is tagged under. I am planning to do this slowly, spreading it out over days. I hope I am not going to mess up too much.

Recent Happenings to This Blog

A Good Samaritan has added a few things to my blog in the last few days. Hopefully these new additions will increase traffic to my blog. Already I can see that a bloke has dropped by. It is good to know that people are actually reading what I have written. I am also hoping that the increased traffic will make it possible for me to write some sponsored posts in the near future. This will allow me to make a few extra dollars to put away for the grand project I have been working on forever.

To all my visitors, I would like to take this opportunity to stress again that this blog contains my own personal views. Names of the people in the many stories that I tell are changed to protect their identities. Suggestions I have made are based on my experiences of working as a nanny. While most of these have been applied successfully in my work experience they are not guaranteed to work for everyone else. I encourage anyone who wishes to adopt any of these suggestions to exercise good judgement before doing so.

I am also hoping that visitors to my blog will leave me a comment (preferably positive ones, LOL). It will be great to see what others think of what I write. This invitation is not just open to all the nannies out there as I welcome everyone who is passionate in the care of young children to drop me a line.

The Need to Rant and Vent

I have been annoyed by a number of things lately. Since I have this blog, I thought I might as well vent my frustration here. These posts will be tagged under a new topic called ‘Ranting & Venting’. The posts are not necessarily related to my work as a nanny. They have more to do with my private life and events happening in society. The first one will be on the Mattel Toy Recall. As I have said in the past, what I post in this section (and in the rest of the blog) are just my personal opinions.

Being a Nanny

I am intending to also blog about what it is like to be a nanny in the 21st century Australia. These posts will be grouped under the new topic ‘Being a Nanny’. I will describe what it is like to be a nanny, including ‘sticky’ moments. I think I will also try to explain why I chose this job. I will try to offer suggestions but I certainly don’t think that I have all the answers. It would be great if those of you who read this blog are able to respond to my posts. Other nannies are especially welcomed as are parents. In fact, I don’t think I will exclude anyone’s comments unless of course the person is excessively offensive.

Horrible True Stories

Horrible True Stories is a section on this blog where I post about some of the nasty experiences that I have encountered in my work as a nanny. I will try not to judge the adults/parents. They probably make mistakes because they were ill-informed. Who doesn’t make mistakes? I certainly do! Sometimes, depending on the angle, the mistakes seem quite cruel. People may ask as to why I never step in to rectify a problem but when I do try what I can do is pretty limited. I will explain this more fully in another post soon.

The names of people in these stories have been changed to give everyone privacy.

My Favourite Things

My Favourite Things is a section in this blog where I post about products, services and places that I like. I am not paid to do so. I do it to share information with everyone who reads this blog. Please be aware that any opinions I have of a product, service or place come from my own personal experiences.

About being paid to post, I am actually thinking about setting one of those things up. I have read blogs where people are paid to post on various ‘topics’ (which are actually ads). I think that will be a neat way for me to make some $$$. Perhaps I should find out more before diving into it. If I do sign up, I will make it obvious which posts are paid posts.

Important Notice 2 Re: Parenting Ideas & Products I Love

I am also intending to suggest parenting ideas and great products that I have test driven through my work, in this blog. I must however remind everyone that these are just my own personal opinions. The ideas may not be suitable to everyone in every situation and the products may not be up to everyone's standards.

Important Notice 1 Re: Stories & Journal

This is the first posting I am creating for this blog. I am intending to keep a journal describing my current work and to post stories of my past experiences. To protect the privacy of everyone that I may mention, I have decided to give everyone new names.
